Jane Austin is always a wonderful read so that should be easily attainable. Put aside Dickens and try Thackeray’s Vanity Fair it’s a ripper as well as a Victorian doorstopper. Dickens friend Wilkie Collins who invented the mystery novel such as The Woman in White is fabulous and the novels race along. I guess I am saying I love the BBC adaptations of Dickens but the reading is a struggle.
